The Enneagram describes a perspective which quickens one’s understanding of how each person becomes fixed into a personality with particular beliefs, attitudes, perspectives on reality, defenses, and much more. It describes patterns of how your psyche/soul unfolds and becomes free. As a client you don’t need to understand the Enneagram at all. I have been studying the Enneagram for more than 27 years, and it continues to reveal itself to me and it is a useful tool in my therapy with you.
This perspective allows me to more fully understand your particular predicament, conflicts and inner binds which is useful for the guidance during our work together. Of course, you can read more about this and I would recommend, Sandra Maitri’s Book, on The Spiritual Dimension of the Enneagram if you are interested. There are online questionnaires that can help you determine which type you are.
But remember, while the Enneagram shows you how you got fixated it doesn’t mean you remain fixed, it actually speaks to how you can return to your true self and along the way uncover your particular essential qualities.
Please check back here from time to time as I will write more about each fixation.
